Robert Hamill

Robert is a solicitor in our Civil Claims Against Public Authorities team, having qualified in August 2022.

Robert’s varied caseload includes a range of civil claims and judicial reviews against public authorities, including the police. He also represents bereaved families in Inquest proceedings that often engage Article 2 ECHR.

Robert has helped clients challenge the lawfulness of their immigration detention and the seizure of their possessions by the Home Office. He also represents individuals who are the victims of historic sexual abuse.

Developing areas of work include representing the families of victims of domestic violence who have been killed by their abusive partners and claims against NHS Trusts for their failure to store bodies of deceased people in their care with due respect and dignity.  These cases often involve complex issues of fact and law.

Prior to joining Gold Jennings as a trainee in August 2020, Robert worked at Leigh Day where he acted on behalf of claimants in high-profile human rights cases against multi-national companies. He has also worked as a caseworker on the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.

Robert has a BA (Hons) degree in Political Science from the University of Nottingham and completed the GDL and LPC (achieving a Distinction) at BPP University. Whilst at BPP, he volunteered at the anti-poverty charity Z2K and is an active member of Justice, the law reform group.
